Gustin Captures Ice Bowl Victory At Talladega Short Track

Ryan Gustin led the final 29 laps en route to the victory in the 33rd annual Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama on Saturday night.

After starting the 50-lap feature at the 1/3-mile clay raceway from the fourth position, the Marshalltown, Iowa native challenged for the lead on lap 22, taking the point from Christian Hanger.

From there, Gustin went on to hold off a late race charge from Oakley Johns to score the victory and a $7,500 payday.

Johns had to settle for second place, with Christian Hanger in third, Ray Cook in fourth, and Sam Seawright in fifth.

Matt Cooper, Douglasville, Georgia’s Mark Page, T.J. Brittain, Chris Jones, and Tyrone, Georgia’s Jody Knowles rounded out the top 10.
