Sam Hafertepe, Jr., Austin McCarl, and Ryan Timms opened the USCS Sprint Car Series 2024 season with weekend victories at Volusia Speedway Park in De Leon Springs, Florida.
Hafertepe, Jr. won the season opener on Thursday night, with McCarl taking the victory on Friday, and Ryan Timms scoring the win on Saturday night.
On Thursday, Hafertepe, Jr. hustled from the seventh starting position to take the lead from Austin McCarl with five laps to go in the 25-lap feature. Hafertepe, Jr. led the rest of the distance to score the $2,500 victory.
McCarl finished in second, with Ryan Timms in third, Justin Peck in fourth, and Danny Sams III in fifth.
Peck, McCarl, Timms, and Christopher Thram won their respective heat races.
On Friday, Austin McCarl beat Hafertepe, Jr. by a nose at the finish line to win a $2,500 payday. The only caution flag of the race on lap 23 set up the dramatic finish.
McCarl took the lead at the start of the race from his outside front row starting spot. With two laps to go on Friday night, McCarl held a one second lead over Hafertepe.
When the caution flag came out on lap 23, Hafertepe lined up on the rear bumper of McCarl for the restart. McCarl just edged Hafertepe at the checkered with a slim .072 second margin of victory,
Justin Peck finished third, with Cameron Martin in fourth, and Danny Dietrich in fifth.
Ryan Timms, Eric Riggins, Jr., Tyler Clem, and Liam Martin won their respective heat races.
On Saturday night, Ryan Timms took the lead from Austin Peck with an inside move off of turn four on lap 19 of 30. From there, Timms held the inside line after a late race caution set up a green-white-checkered finish to score the win and a $10,000 payday.
Peck, Sam Hafertepe, Jr., Austin McCarl, and Danny Dietrich rounded out the top five.
McCarl, Peck, Cameron Martin, and Hafertepe won their respective heat races.
