Craft Captures Charlie Mize Memorial Victory At Lavonia

On a night honoring Charlie Mize and a trio of track Hall of Famers, Blake Craft carried home the top prize from Georgia’s Lavonia Speedway on Saturday.

Craft led the 25-lap feature from the pole and went on to score the Limited Late Model victory at the 3/8-mile clay speedway.

The win in the Hall of Fame Charlie Mize Memorial was worth $2,000 for the Canon, Georgia speedster, and it came on the night that the speedway inducted Mike White, Tim Headen, and Steve “Hot Rod” LaMance into its Hall of Fame.

Devon Morgan finished in second, with Chris Woods in third, Adam Smith in fourth, and Parris Simmons in fifth.

Brady Cornett, Matthew Wyatt, John Howard, Derrick Harvey, and Kip Cochran rounded out the top 10.

The GM Performance 602 Late Models also competed on Saturday night, with Luke Cooper taking the win over Layton Sullivan in second, Jay Coen in third, David Smith in fourth, and Jake Jackson in fifth.

Jimmy Johnson carried home a pair of trophies on Saturday night, winning in both the Modified Street and Stock 8 features. In the Modified Street feature, Andy Stewart finished in second, followed by Royce Bray in third, Phillip Burton in fourth, and Rex Hambrick in fifth. In the Stock 8 feature, Johnson beat out Wayne Griggs for the win, with Mike Oglesby, Michael Segars, and David Brown rounding out the top five.

Greg Pruitt took the checkered flag ahead of Johnny Crews to win the 602 Charger feature. Brody Kellum finished third, with Will McConnell fourth, and Cruz Bennett fifth.

Evan Brown was the winner in the Stock 4 feature, with Kyle Braswell in second, Scott Hollars in third, Arron Cronic in fourth, and Justin Cotton in fifth.

Landen Payne crossed the finish line first to win the Young Guns feature, with Brayden Long in second, Brantley Bales in third, Addison Bragg in fourth, and Daniel Marchman in fifth.

Joel Cabe scored the Front Wheel Drive feature victory, followed by Tony Stevens in second, Luke Lackore in third, Tyler Bridges in fourth, and Wesley Collins in fifth.

Also taking part in the Hall of Fame festivities was the NVRA Vintage Racers, with Mike Nasworthy sweeping both features. Nasworthy was the winner in the NVRA Skeeters feature, with Lonnie Roberts in second, Gary Smith in third, Stacey Cotton in fourth, and Jabe Jones in fifth.

Nasworthy also scored the victory in the NVRA Late Models feature. Brent Carey finished in second, with Jeff Powell in third, Bobby Morris in fourth, and Scott Cannon in fifth.
