Joseph Joiner and Brandon Overton came out of Alabama with wins in Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series competition over the weekend.

Joiner was the winner on Friday night at Buckshot Speedway in Clanton, Alabama, while Overton took home top honors on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama.

On Friday night, Joseph Joiner led from flag-to-flag to score his first career series victory at the 3/8-mile Buckshot Speedway.

The Milton, Florida racer started on the outside of the front row, and ended the night in victory lane with the $7,553 winner’s paycheck.

“It (the car) was really, really good tonight,” said Joiner. “This is our third time coming to this place and our third win, so I’m liking Buckshot Speedway pretty good these days. This is our first time here with the Longhorn car though, so I didn’t really know how to leave the shop. We kinda put it close to baseline with a little tweak from stuff I’ve learned from coming here in the Capital stuff.”

Dillon Tidmore finished in second, with Ross Bailes in third, Haiden Cowan in fourth, and Colbert, Georgia’s Kenny Collins in fifth.

On Saturday night, Evans, Georgia’s Brandon Overton became the first repeat winner on the 2023 season, coming out on top of a back-and-forth battle with Ashton Winger for the win at East Alabama Motor Speedway.

Overton pounced on Winger on lap 40, and then survived a green-white-checkered finish for his second straight Jimmy Thomas Memorial win and the $10,053 payday at the historic 3/8-mile layout.

Along with the second win of the year, it marks Overton’s ninth career series victory.

Winger, who hails from Senoia, Georgia, finished in second, with Carson Ferguson in third, Sam Seawright in fourth, and Dalton Cook in fifth.

Next up for the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series will be a doubleheader in the states of Virginia and Tennessee. Up first will be a visit to Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia on Friday night, April 7. The weekend will then culminate on Saturday evening, April 8 Tennessee’s Tazewell Speedway.
