Wet, Cold Weather Wrecks Area Racing Plans For Some

Persistent rain, gusty winds and cold temperatures led several race tracks and touring series around the region to cancel their racing plans over the weekend.

Georgia’s Winder-Barrow Speedway was slated to hold an event on Saturday night, but the inclement weather led track officials to cancel their plans. The next event for the ¼-mile dirt raceway is slated for Saturday, March 19. For more information, visit WinderBarrowSpeedway.com.

Another North Georgia track to see their race plans washed out was Hartwell Speedway, who had to call off Saturday’s planned event. The speedway is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, March 26. Visit Hartwell-Speedway.com for more information.

On the asphalt side, Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, South Carolina had to call off plans for their season opener on Friday night. Track officials will try again to get the 2022 season underway on Friday, March 25. Check AndersonMotorSpeedway.com for details.

Hickory Motor Speedway in Newton, North Carolina made the call to cancel Saturday night’s second event of the season. The raceway will host the PASS Super Late Models for the annual Easter Bunny 150 on Friday and Saturday, March 18-19. Visit HickoryMotorSpeedway.com for more information.

Back on dirt, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series was slated to compete over the weekend at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee, only to see the cold, rainy weather cancel the weekend. The series is next scheduled to compete on Friday, March 18 at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio. For more information, visit LucasDirt.com.

The World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series called off plans to compete at The Rev in Monroe, Louisiana on Friday and Saturday. Up next is a trip to Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina on Friday, March 25. Check WorldofOutlaws.com for details.
