Sam Seawright took the lead on lap 19, and survived a trio of late race cautions to score the victory in Saturday’s Cabin Fever event at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia.

It marked the first career Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series win for the 18-year-old Fort Payne, Alabama native, and was worth a $5,000 payday.

The caution flew early in the event, when a 10-car pile up in the first turn on the opening lap marred the start.

Once underway, John Ownbey jumped to the lead over Brandon Williams. Williams took the lead on lap two, and held it as the caution flew on the next lap when Bill Mahan’s car slowed in turn four.

Back under green, Williams held the lead, with Seawright moving to second. The battle for the point tightened up as the lead duo worked through slower traffic, and on lap 19, Seawright moved to the lead. The race was slowed one lap later when Ownbey’s car slowed on the frontstretch.

On the restart, Seawright continued to lead, but saw any advantage he had go away when the caution came out again on lap 26 when Drew Deaver slowed with mechanical issues. The caution flew again on lap

Seawright held the point on the restart, with Williams drawing a caution on lap 35 when he slowed on the track. The next restart attempt saw another caution fly when Robby Mason cut a tire entering turn one. The following restart was also marred by a caution due to water on the track.

On the final restart, Seawright pulled away from the field, and ran unchallenged to the victory.

Ronnie Johnson finished in second, with Dillon Crim in third, Tod Hernandez in fourth, and Rucker Orr in fifth.

Pete Crum, Matt Steward, Justin Owens, Tim Thornton, and Jacques Daniel rounded out the top 10.
