Pollard Edges Smith For SpeedFest SLM Win At Cordele

It should come as no surprise that Saturday’s SpeedFest 150 at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia came down to a pair of Peach State aces.

Bubba Pollard, from Senoia, Georgia held off NASCAR Truck Series driver Chandler Smith of Talking Rock, Georgia over the final 57 laps to score the victory at the .375-mile paved raceway.

It marks Pollard’s second career win in the annual Super Late Model event for the ARCA/CRA Super Series and Southern Super Series.

Pollard and moved to the point for the final time on lap 93 of the 150 lap event. From there, he held off all charges from Smith, the 2021 Snowball Derby winner, to drive to the win.

It gives Pollard a total of four SpeedFest wins, with two of those coming in the annual Pro Late Model event that is run as a part of the race weekend.

Smith, who was the SpeedFest Super Late Model winner in 2018, had to settle for a second placed finish. Carson Hocevar followed in second, with Monroe, Georgia’s Jake Garcia in fourth and Corey Heim in fifth

Ryan Moore, Michael House, Stephen Nasse, William Sawalich and Michael Atwell rounded out the top 10.
