It was a pair of Georgia racers that took home top honors in the Schaeffer’s Oil Fall Nationals 2019 season finale on Saturday night.

Brandon Overton of Evans, Georgia scored the victory in the 60-lap feature at Motor Speedway in Pine Hall, North Carolina.

Meanwhile, Dawsonville, Georgia’s Donald McIntosh finished in ninth, taking home the 2019 series championship in the process.

McIntosh scored two series victories on his way to the title, outdistancing David Payne by 230 points in the final tally.

Overton took the lead at the drop of the green flag, with Kyle Hardy in pursuit. The first of four caution flags appeared on lap 17 for debris in turn three. On the restart, Overton and Hardy again pulled away from the field. The caution would appear again on lap 21 when Ross Bailes spun entering turn one.

Overton and Hardy moved away again when the green flag came back out, scoot with Chris with Ferguson in third. Overton would quickly build an advantage and caught slower traffic on lap 36, but would not attempt to work past the slower car, allowing Hardy to close the gap. Hardy would close to within three car lengths of Overton at one point, but could not get close enough to attempt a pass. The third caution of the race flew on lap 46 when Ferguson slowed on the backstretch.

Overton again charged away from the field on the restart, only to have the final caution of the race wave on lap 49 when Trent Ivey’s car slowed on the track.

The final restart would see Overton get away quickly from the field and go unchallenged to the checkered flag, taking the win by 4.950 seconds over Hardy. Chase Junghans finished in third, with Tyler Bare in fourth and Justin Hudspeth in fifth.

Jeff Smith, Matthew Nance, G.R. Smith, McIntosh and Joey Coulter rounded out the top ten.

The event was a tribute to Keith Jacobs, a well-liked 311 Motor Speedway competitor who passed away at the track on Friday evening from a medical emergency.
