Justin Shipley Wins In Rain Shortened Dixie Celebration

Fans and drivers alike celebrated the historic Dixie Speedway on Saturday night, with the second annual “Good Ol’ Days” event at the Woodstock, Georgia track.

And no one was celebrating more than Justin Shipley, who drove to the Crate Late Model Championship feature victory in a rain shortened race.

Shipley, of Douglasville, Georgia, took the checkered flat first to score when over Will Roland in second, Zach Pilcher in third, Luther Jenkinsin fourth and Ty Ellis in fifth. The rain shortened the feature at lap 17.

In other action Jonathan Martin took the Championship feature win in the 602 Sportsman race, holding off Andrew Bailey over the closing laps. Daniel Brewer followed in third, with Chris Hough in fourth and Chad Kimbrall in fifth.

Dan Meadows took the lead in the Economy Bombers Championship feature and held off challenges from Travis Smith for his sixth win of the season. Smith settled for second, with Jeremy Williams, Stacey Duren, and Justin Begley rounding out the top five.

The National Vintage Racing Association also competed on Saturday night, with Gary Smith winning the Open Wheel feature, while Randy Woodard took the Late Model feature.

With the Super Late Model, Steelhead/525, and Street Stingers being rained out, those divisions will compete in double features on Saturday, August 31.
