The Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals closed out the 2019 campaign over the Memorial Day weekend, with Michael Page, Donald McIntosh and Jimmy Owens each getting a victory.

Page scored the win on Saturday night at Georgia’s Dixie Speedway, with McIntosh winning on Sunday at Georgia’s Rome Speedway and Owens winning the finale on Monday at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee.

On Saturday, Michael Page led flag-to-flag at Dixie Speedway for his second-career series victory.

The Douglasville, Georgia driver scored a $4,000 payday for his efforts.

Austin Smith and Page led the field to the green flag for the start of the 40-lap feature, with Page jumping to the point. A caution before the first lap was completed set the field back up for another try at the start. Page would jump back out to the lead on the second try and never look back for the win.

Dale McDowell finished in second, with Casey Roberts in third, Ricky Weiss-Headingly in fourth and Smith in fifth.

Five caution flags slowed the main event. The opening lap saw the first yellow fly when Justin Shipley spun in turn two. Tanner English went around in turn two to bring out the second yellow on lap two. On lap nine, Brandon Overton slowed in turn three. On lap 20, Jamie Oliver slowed on the front-stretch and entered the pits for the remainder of the event. On the final yellow on lap 23, Scott Groves came to a stop in turn two after slamming the wall in turn one.

Local division winners on the night included Dalton Polston in Steelhead Late Models, Jason Deal in Crate Late Models, Nick May in 602 Sportsman, Justin Begley in Econo Bombers and Chris Bragg in Street Stingers.

On Sunday, Donald McIntosh scored his sixth career series victory at Rome Speedway. The Dawsonville, Georgia racer took home $5,000 with the win.

McIntosh and Ricky Weiss brought the field down to the green flag, with McIntosh grabbing the point early on. McIntosh was never really challenged for the lead, but there was a great battle for second between eventual runner-up Casey Roberts, Tanner English and Ricky Weiss.

McIntosh would go on for the victory, while Casey Roberts finished second. English finished third, with Dale McDowell in fourth and Weiss in fifth.

Four cautions slowed the feature. The first caution flew on lap 21 as Matt Dooley slowed in turn four. The next yellow flag came out on lap 27 as Ricky Weiss slowed on the backstretch while running second. The third yellow flag came out on lap 36 as Jason Croft slowed in turn four with a right-rear flat tire. The final caution would be on lap 40 as Forrest Trent came to a stop at the top of turn two.

Local division winners on the night included Oliver Gentry in Steelhead Late Models, Jason Deal in Crate Late Models, Daniel Brewer in 602 Sportsman, Travis Smith in Econo Bombers and Chris Bragg in Street Stingers.

On Monday, Jimmy Owens passed Brandon Overton on lap 34 and led the remaining distance to capture the 7th annual Scott Sexton Memorial at 411 Motor Speedway.

It marks the second career series win for the Newport, Tennessee driver, giving him a $10,052 payday.

Brandon Overton, Ricky Weiss, Hudson O’Neal and Kyle Strickler rounded out the top five.

Two caution flags slowed the main event, both on lap 12. The first caution flew as Tanner English slowed in turn four as he was running in seventh place. On the restart, the final caution flew as Dale McDowell spun in turn two, causing a tangle between two other cars. McDowell’s mount never stopped, while the other two had to join the tail of the field for the restart.

In post-race celebrations, Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Georgia was honored as the 2019 Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series Champion. It’s McDowell’s first touring championship since 1999 when he was a champion on the former Hav-A-Tampa Racing Series. Donald McIntosh finished a close second.
