The World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series wrapped up its 2018 season on Saturday night at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina with the World of Outlaws World Finals.

Brandon Sheppard was the winner Saturday afternoon in a race pushed forward from Friday due to wet weather, while Scott Bloomquist was the winner in Saturday’s season finale.

Meanwhile, Mike Marlar officially clinched his first World of Outlaws championship points title.

On Saturday afternoon, Sheppard collected his 13th win of the season, holding off Tim McCreadie en route to the win after the duo swapped the lead back and forth several times.

Sheppard started from the outside of row three and quickly moved into the top three, taking the lead on lap nine. He would go unchallenged until the halfway mark, as McCreadie shot to the bottom of the track and swiped the lead away on lap 26.

Side-by-side they raced until lap 30, when Sheppard was able to pull away in lapped traffic. A late-but-great restart was he needed to pull away from McCreadie and grab his 37th-career series victory.

“Our car was really maneuverable and that was the key,” Sheppard said. “The track was awesome, just like it always is. Hats off to my team, this thing’s a dream to drive.”

McCreadie finished in second, with Mike Marlar in third, Scott Bloomquist in fourth and Devin Moran in fifth.

On Saturday night, Scott Bloomquist went virtually unchallenged through the 50 lap feature, leading wire-to-wire for his second win of the season and 32nd all-time
Blairsville, Georgia’s Jonathan Davenport finished in second, with Sheppard in third, Chase Junghans in fourth and McCreadie in fifth..

Meanwhile, Mike Marlar finished in sixth, wrapping up the series championship in the process.

“First off, running with the World of Outlaws has just been a pleasure,” Marlar said. “Win, lose or draw, it’s been great all year. We went to some awesome racetracks… and it was humbling to me to see how nice the officials were to us.”
