Hometown racer Nick Sweet nailed down his first Super Late Model race win on Friday night, holding off Patrick Laperle for the win in the PASS North Super Late Model feature at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vermont.

Sweet, a two-time track champion at the high-banked, 1/4-mile oval, spent the opening portion of the race chasing Jeremy Davis. Sweet claimed the race lead on the 36th lap, setting the pace until current series points leader D.J. Shaw took control with 50 laps remaining.

Laperle moved in and battled Shaw, swapping the lead as Sweet regrouped for his final charge. A late restart allowed Sweet to move by Shaw to move back into contention,. The duo raced side-by-side for much of the final 20 laps. In the end, Sweet got to the finish line just ahead of Laperle to score the victory.

Shaw finished in third, with Bobby Therien in fourth and Derek Griffith in fifth.

Derek Ramstrom, Garrett Hall, Jeremy Davis, Travis Benjamin and Gabe Brown rounded out the top ten.

Up next for the PASS North Super Late Model Series is a trip to Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine on October 13. For more information, visit ProAllStarsSeries.com.
