Rain Causes More Headaches For Area Racetracks

For some, the third time was NOT the charm.

Wet weather caused headaches for track officials, drivers and race fans over the weekend, as rain washed out several racing programs around the southeast.

It’s the third straight week that precipitation led to area tracks having to postpone or outright cancel events.

On Friday night, Atlanta Motor Speedway saw week three of their Friday Night Drags program on the track’s pit road drag strip washed out. Action is slated to return on Friday, June 8. Visit AtlantaMotorSpeedway.com for more information.

The Southeast Super Truck Series was slated to race at Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, North Carolina on Saturday, but torrential rains led series officials to postpone the event. The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series was scheduled to compete at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, North Carolina on Saturday night. That race had to be postponed after significant rainfall in the area on Thursday night caused a posrtion of the front stretch wall to collapse.
