Mike Marlar edged out Brandon Overton on Sunday night to score the Southern Nationals Bonus Series race at Georgia’s Rome Speedway.
The win was worth $5,300 for the Winfield, Tennessee driver in an event postponed from earlier in the year due to rain.
Michael Page jumped to the initial race lead, with Dale McDowell, Brandon Overton, Donald McIntosh, and Marlar giving chase by lap two. Marlar worked his way forward, and by the time the first caution of the event flow on lap 14, he had moved into the third position.
Marlar would move to second on lap 19, and set his sights on Page. The duo raced side-by-side on lap 23, with Marlar finally taking the top spot one lap later.
From there, Marlar would hold on to the lead to the end en route to the victory, with Overton in second. Shanon Buckingham finished in third, with Dale McDowell in fourth and Casey Roberts in fifth.
Donald McIntosh, Ross Bailes, Jason Croft, Austin Smith and Michael Page rounded out the top ten.
