Mike Pegher, Jr. made the long drive from Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania to Cochran, Georgia pay off in a big way, as he scored the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series victory at Cochran Motor Speedway Friday night.

Pegher put on a dominating performance, setting fast time in qualifying and leading wire-to-wire for the win in round six of the Winter Shootout at the 3/8 dirt track.

In the feature event, Pegher brought the field to green and jumped out to the early lead. His dominating performance was interrupted early when Jamie Perry slowed on the backstretch, bringing out the race’s first caution.

The caution would fly again on lap 28 when Forrest Trent came to a rest against the inside wall after contact with another car.

Back under green, Pegher again jumped out to the advantage, but over the closing laps, Kyle Bronson would begin to close. As the field took the white flag, Bronson has moved to within four car lengths of the leader. Bronson would make a final charge off the final turn, but could not make the move, as Pegher held on to take the victory.

Bronson had to settle for second, with Jimmy Elliott in third, Trent in fourth and Mark Whitener in fifth.

Walker Arthur, Devin Dixon, Ryan Carter, Matt Henderson and Shep Lucas rounded out the top ten.
