Purdy Sweeps Late Model Features At Greenville-Pickens

Chase Purdy picked up his sixth and seventh victories of the season at Greenville-Pickens Speedway as he both Late Model Stock races on Saturday night at the Easley, SC raceway.

Purdy led over 110 laps out of the 150 completed and took home a $4,000 pay day for his victories in both 75 lap features.

In the first feature, two-time track champion David Roberts brought the field to the green flag with Marietta, Georgia’s Cody Haskins to his outside. Purdy started in third alongside former NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver and two time ARCA race winner Chad McCumbee.

Purdy wasted little time moving to the top spot, as he passed Roberts on lap two.
He then went on to claim his sixth victory of the season in dominant fashion.

McCumbee held on to finish second ahead of Trey Gibson in third, Dylan Hall in fourth and Jeremy Burns in fifth.

Purdy started the second feature on the pole, with McCumbee on the outside. On the drop of the green, McCumbee powered his way to the lead on the outside of turn one, with Burns moving to second while Purdy dropped to third.

On lap 20, Purdy got by Burns for second and set his sights on the race leader. On lap 35, Purdy moved past McCumbee to take the lead. From there, Purdy drove away to score his seventh feature win of the season.

Trey Gibson, Dylan Hall, Chad McCumbee and Jeremy Burns rounded out the top five.

In other action, Spenser Morgan picked up the victory in the Pure Stock division after race leader Buck Simmons broke with less than four laps remaining in the race. Zach Meinders came home in second followed by Ashley Granata in third.

In the 4 Cylinder division, Hunter Evans scored his first win of the season. Chad Redding finished in second, with Michael Cross in third, Dannon Esco in fourth and Tommy Davis in fifth

Tim Sams took the Super Stock feature victory, with Josh Sams in second, Travis Cox in third, Ted Somero in fourth and Stanley Pressley in fifth.

In the Renegade feature, Terry Thurston scored the win. Bobby Emory finished in second, with Shane Hill third, Brandon Ellison fourth and Larry Nabors in fifth.

Greenville-Pickens Speedway returns to action on Saturday, as the Mulligan Power Truck Series makes its debut at the raceway. The Limited Late Model, Super Stock, Pure Stock, Renegade and 4 Cylinder divisions will also be competing.
