Kres VanDyke returned to victory lane on Saturday, dominating the night’s 60-lap Late Model Stock Car feature at Lonesome Pine Raceway in Coeburn, VA.

Royce Peters and Keith Stiltner made up the front row for the feature. Stiltner made his way to the lead on the opening lap, with VanDyke charging into second place. Two laps later, VanDyke would use the outside lane to take the lead. The first caution of the race waved on lap seven for an incident in turns one and two.

VanDyke would charge back to the lead on the restart and pull away until a spin by Stiltner brought the caution back out on lap 18. Back under green, VanDyke would again take the lead.

The final yellow flag came out on lap 35 for a spin by Mardy Roberts on the backstretch. VanDyke regained the lead on the final restart and never relinquished for the victory.

“It’s been a heck of a day over here,” said VanDyke. “This week’s been tough. We spent about all day on the scales.

“Appreciate everyone coming out tonight. Thanks to all my sponsors, fans and crews.”

In other action, Rob Austin propelled to the top spot on the opening lap of the Modified Street feature. Jared Broadbent would make his way into second place on lap seven and begin to close in on Austin. As Broadbent began to track down Austin, Sam Hurd made his way into third place.

On lap 14, Hurd would dive to the inside of Broadbent at the end of the fronstretch, taking over second place and then overtaking Austin for the lead by the exit of turn two. Hurd led the remaining 16 laps for his first win of the season.

The first attempt to get the Pure 4 race would be unsuccessful, as an eight car crash ensued on the frontstretch.

On the second attempt to get underway, Jay Swecker would take over the lead. John Ketron would power his machine around Swecker the following lap to take over first place.

Michael Nelson would make contact with the turn two inside wall, sending him into Tim Jennings and forcing the yellow flag out again. Back underway, Ketron’s car would falter, forcing him to pit and handing the lead to Jason Ketron.

A spin in turn four would have the yellow flag waving on lap 13. Ketron would pull away when the field received the green flag and take his first victory of the season.

Billy Duty took the lead at the drop of the green flag for the Mod 4 race. Rocky Yates would make his way around Duty on the following lap for the top spot.

The only yellow flag of the race would wave on lap 16 when Hershell Robinette and Jason Yates made contact, sending them both spinning on the frontstretch. Back under green, Yates would take the lead over Gobble and lead the remaining laps for his fifth win on the season.

Marty Tunnell took the lead to start the Pure Street race. A spin in turn two would bring the caution out on lap two. On the restart, Tunnell would take the lead and go on to claim the victory.

Ben Barker took the win in the Rookie Pure 4 feature.
