Augie Grill and Bret Holmes both made trips to Montgomery Motor Speedway’s victory lane Saturday night, as they split the twin Pro Late Model features for the Show Me The Money Series at the Montgomery, AL raceway.

In the first feature, Bill Bethea III took the lead at the start but was quickly challenged by Hunter Robbins. A caution for a issue for Dennis Reno bunched the field up. On the restart, Grill used the outside lane to take the lead.

Over the next several laps, Grill and Robbins fought for the top spot, while Justin Grill moved into third. Meanwhile, Grill solidified to top spot and went on to score his second win of the season. Robbins held on for second, with South in third, Holmes in fourth and Bobby Knox, Jr. in fifth.

In the second feature, Holmes jumped out to the early lead, while South moved to second. South tried several times to make the pass for the top spot, but Holmes used the high line to hold off the challenge.

Meanwhile, Robbins and Grill worked their way to the front, with Robbins setting his sights on the lead. But as the laps wound down, it was Holmes holding on for the win, with Robbins settling for second. Grill finished in third, with South in fourth and Knox, Jr. in fifth.

The first of two Interstate Batteries Late Model Sportsman features got off to a rocky start, as Larry Speakman and Joe Bethea, Jr. tangled on the opening lap, with Speakman’s car coming to rest against the inside retaining wall.

When the race got back underway, Brad Edwards took the early lead and would stay out front until the third lap, when Joe Hudson moved to the top spot. Two laps later, contact between the two sent Edwards to the pits with front end damage. The caution flew again on lap 7 when the Keith Joiner’s engine went south, ending his night.

Perry Patino would hold the lead until the caution flew on lap 15 when John Adams spun. Under caution, Patino headed to the pits with engine issues.

Back under green, Jason Furrow led the pack, and would hold the top spot the rest of the way to score the victory. Joe Wilder finished in second, with Hudson in third, Shelby Reuse in fourth and Travis Cleckler in fifth.

In the second feature, Reuse jumped out to the early lead and held the position for 4 laps until Furrow took the top spot. The caution flew on lap five when Wilder stopped on the backstreatch. Back under green, Edwards grabbed the top spot and drove away to the victory. Furrow finished in second, with Hudson in third, Cleckler in fourth and Reuse in fifth.

The Modified Minis division also held double features. Joel Collier led the first feature early, but saw his race come to an early end with mechanical issues on lap 3. On the restart, Ashley Bridgemon jumped out to the lead, and appeared to be on her way to her first win. But a tangle with the lapped car of Joe Wingard in turn two on the final lap derailed those plans, handing the lead and the win to Steve Looney. It marked Looney’s second win of the season. Rusty Alverson finished in second, with David Davis third. Bridgemon recovered to finish in fourth, with Joe Wingard in fifth.

In the second Modified Mini feature, Looney appeared to be set to take another win, as he led nine of the 10 laps that made up the feature. But on the final lap, Alverson powered around Looney to take the lead and the win. Looney finished in second, with Bridgemon, Davis and Nick Doehring rounding out the top five.
