Bubba Pollard outran the rain, outran the clock and outran the competition to score his first win in the Snowflake 100 Pro Late Model race Saturday night at 5 Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL.

Make that Sunday morning, as rain and multiple cautions in preliminary events pushed the start time of the Pro Late Model feature to 3:30 am Sunday morning.

Despite the lateness of the hour, the Senoia, GA speedster made the pass for the win on John Hunter Nemechek with 10 laps to go, and drove on to score the win at 4:30 am.

Augie Grill would jump out to the early lead on the drop of the green, with Nemechek and Justin South in tow. One lap later, the first caution of the race flew for a blown engine by one competitor.

Back under green, Grill established himself again as the leader. He would hold the lead until lap 17, when a multi-car crash in turn four brought out the second caution of the morning.

Grill again moved to the lead on the lap 22 restart, with South making his way around Nemechek for second. Nemechek would soon move back to second, with Pollard slipping past South to move to third.

Caution flew again on lap 50, when Brad May and Korey Ruble tangled to bring out the third yellow flag of the event.

Grill would continue to hold the lead on the restart, followed by Nemechek, Pollard and Harrison Burton.

On lap 73, Nemechek made his way to the lead, with Pollard following him past Grill two laps later as Grill appeared to have issues.

Nemechek would hold the top spot until lap 90, when Pollard made the pass for the win, setting the stage for Sunday afternoon’s Snowball Derby.

Nemechek held on for second, with Garrett Jones third, Harrison Burton fourth and Dillon Oliver fifth.

Christopher Bell, Junior Niedecken, Steve Dorer, Johanna Long and Suwanee, GA’s Anderson Bowen rounded out the top ten.
