MONTGOMERY, AL – Mike Garvey powered to the lead early on, and went on to score the Pro Late Model victory Saturday night at Montgomery Motor Speedway in Montgomery, AL.

On the drop of the green, Garvey moved out to an early lead, with Dennis Reno, Jr., Garrett Jones and R.S. Senter in pursuit.

Caution came out early, as Rusty Sanford, Jr., T.W. Fisher and Shane Nalley tangled on the opening lap on the backstretch.

The yellow flag flew again on lap 12 for contact between Bill Bethea III and Jordan McCallum. It would fly again on lap 41 for a hard hit by McCallum, which slowed the action again.

Meanwhile, Korey Ruble, piloting a car for Georgia Racing Hall of Famer Ronnie Sanders, worked his way to the front.

The final caution flew on lap 92, setting up an eight lap dash to the finish.

Garvey jumped back out to the lead on the restart, and would hold on to score the victory, with Ruble in second and Senter in third. Perry Patino rolled home in fourth, with Garrett Jones in fifth.

Kyle McCallum, Bobby Knox, Jr., Johnny Brazier, Bill Bethea, Jr. and Chuck Tuck rounded out the top ten.

In other action, Donnie Hamrac battled with Jeff Letson in the Open Wheel Modified feature, until Letson’s car began running hot, keeping him from being able to mount the late race charge he needed. Hamrac went on to score this second victory in a row, with Letson in second, Jim Wall in third, Rocky Rogers in fourth and Parker Pugh in fifth.

In Open Sportsman action, Jason Furrow started on the pole, and held the top spot until the first caution of the night flew for a spin in turn four. On the restart, Billy Melvin made the move for the lead, and would hold the top spot through numerous cautions to cross under the checkered flag for the win.

However, Melvin failed post-race inspection, giving the victory to Jason Furrow. Joe Hudson was moved to second, with Kenny King in third, Anthony Lilla fourth and Bo McCraney in fifth.

Joe Bethea, Jr. picked up the victory in the Street Stock feature, with Perry Patino in second, Dwayne Wesenberg in third, David Wood in fourth and Kameron Wesenberg in fifth.

Montgomery Motor Speedway will be back on Sept. 6 for the 50th annual Alabama 200 featuring the Southern Super Series.
