Jack Nosbisch, Jr. Wins Late Model Feature At East Bay

Jack Nosbisch, Jr. jumped out to the early lead in the 25-lap Late Model feature, and went on to score the victory at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL Saturday night.

Shan Smith and Nosbisch, Jr. brought the field to green, with Nosbisch, Jr. quickly moving to the lead while Bryan Bernhardt slid past Smith for second. The first caution of the feature flew on lap 12 when both Phillip Cobb and Tim Dowling slowed, their nights over. On the restart, Kyle Musselman and John Koller tangled in turn two, with Koller almost going over. On the final restart, Nosbisch, Jr. was able to hold off Bernhardt to score his first feature win of the 2014 Season. Bernhardt finished in second, with Smith in third, Josh Peacock in fourth and Jamie Slatton in fifth.

In other action, the first feature of the night was the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers. Richard Humfeld and Patrick Fiore, Sr. made up the front row, with Humfeld grabbed the early lead. Fiore, Sr. took over the lead on lap three, and went onto to win in the caution free feature. Humfeld came home in second, with Aaron Yahnke in third, Don R. Quinn in fourth and Gary Lucas in fifth.

Next up were the Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds. Paul Snyder and Jerry Bruce brought the field down to green, with Snyder jumping to the lead as Bruce and Bill Howard gave chase. As Snyder moved away with the lead, Buzzie Reutimann moved his way to second. The caution flew on lap 11 when Nate Bregenzer slowed in turn two, ending his night. Back under green, Snyder led the rest of the way and went on to win with Reutimann, Bruce, Bill Howard and Roger Crouse rounding out the top five.

The Outlaw Fours feature followed, with Brandon Yates and Chris Zimmerman making up the front row for the start. Yates would lead the way into turn one, and would pace the first seven laps until Raymond Rogers, Jr. spun on the front stretch, bringing out the first of two cautions for the feature on the night. The second caution came out on the restart when third place Nick Hebrank spun in turn two. Brandon Yates went on to win the feature with Chris Zimmerman in second. Zach Amundsen finished in third, with Brittany Yates in fourth and Roberto Morfin, Jr. in fifth.

The Florida Old Time Mods were next, with Richard Svenson and Bob Fink making up the front row for the feature. Fink led the first three laps until lap four when Jamie Franklin mounted a challenge. Franklin took over on lap six, but Fink battled back to regain the lead on lap eight. But Franklin charged back and retook the lead, then went on to win the caution free feature. Dan Darnell came home in second, with Fink in third, David Kelly in fourth and Gary Riccio in fifth.

The final event of the night was the second feature for the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers. Winning their heats early on were Patrick Fiore, Sr. and George Handy who also made up the front row for the feature.

George Handy quickly moved out to the lead with Patrick Fiore, Sr. and Kayla Jones in pursuit. The caution flew on lap two when several cars tangled on the front stretch. Stephen Morris and Brett Calonge both came away with damage. Back under green, Handy was able to hold off Fiore, Sr. for the win. Jones came across in third, with Richard Humfeld in fourth and Wayne Kissam in fifth.

East Bay Raceway Park is back in action on Saturday night as the Eagle Jet Top Gun Sprints and the Florida Mini Sprints make their first appearance of the 2014 season.
