‘Hot Rod’ LaMance Scores PLM Opener At Lavonia

After rains pushed back an attempt to start the racing season last month, Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, GA finally roared into action Friday night, with a familiar name in victory lane, as Steve “Hot Rod” LaMance scored the opening night FASTRAK Pro Late Model victory.

LaMance had to hold off another familiar name, David McCoy, to pick up the win. Daniel Smith came home in third, with Kyre Mullaney in fourth and Parker Herring in fifth.

McCoy still made his way to victory lane, as he picked up the Limited Late Model victory. Mike Ashley finished in second, with Gus Simpson in third, Tim Elrod in fourth and Clayton Turner in fifth.

In other action, Michael Foster beat out a large field of competitors to score the Monster Mini Stock Association feature win. Ricky Harvey finished in second, with Gus Nealy in third, Larry Teal in fourth and Kevin Kelly in fifth.

In Hobby Stocks, George Reese beat out Loues Roberts, with Steve Yerbrough, Tim King and James Nash rounding out the top five.

Mark Shackleford scored the win in the Rookie Stock 4 feature, with Tucker Carter in second and A.J. Babb in third.

Mark Wilbanks came home with the victory in the Modified Street feature. Greg Scoggins finished in second, with Louis Tetreault in third, Ricky Chamberlain in fourth and Luke Powell in fifth.

Jackie Holden picked up the Front Wheel Drive feature win. Newman Presnell finished second, with Robbie Cook in third, Michael Anthony in fourth and Harley Holden in fifth.

Lavonia Speedway is back in action on Friday, April 11, featuring a $3,000 to win feature for the FASTRAK National Touring Division Series. For more info, visit lavoniaspeedway.net.
