The 2013-2014 Winter Flurry season at Atlanta Motor Speedway opened Friday night with Legends and Bandolero cars in action under the lights on the quarter-mile Thunder Ring. The opening night of racing in the eight-week winter season gave drivers a chance to get back behind the wheel as they battle for the winter championship.

In the combined Legends feature, Young Lions driver Woodrow Mullis took the checkered flag after he led the final nine laps. Mullis slipped by Masters driver Scott Mosley on lap 11 and could not be caught. The race began with a three car pile-up on the opening lap that cut the night short for Semi-Pro driver Taylor Jorgensen as she got tangled up in turn two with Masters pilot Chris Bowie and Semi-Pro racer Mark Younginer. Younginer was able to recover from the early incident and posted a third-place finish overall while Bowie finished seventh.

Scott Mosley earned second overall and captured the top spot in the Masters division. Younginer’s third-place finish overall was tops in the Semi-Pro division.

Outlaw racer Ashton Winger won the combined Bandolero feature from the pole as he led the race from flag to flag. A heated battle for second over the first 19 laps saw numerous lead changes between Outlaw pilot Taylor Jorgensen and Bandit driver Chandler Smith. They made contact and spun between turns three and four on the final lap, which pushed both drivers to the back of the pack. Bandit racer Clay Thompson slipped by the crash and finished second overall and earned the top spot in his respective division.

Hayden Swank captured the checkered flag in the Beginner Bandits feature. Ryan Howell earned a second place finish while Lexi Gay was third.
