With two Late Model features on tap for the night, Josh Peacock and Keith Nosbisch scored victories Saturday night at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL.

Kyle Musselman and Peacock would make up the front row for the first Late Model feature. When the green waved it was Peacock leading the way, but the race would be interrupted by several caution flags. One caution was for Musselman, as he spun in turn four bunching up the field for a restart. It would come out again when Kenny Monahan slowed on lap nine. On the restart Peacock had Steve Miller and David Schmauss trailing him. In the end, Peacock picked up his third feature win of the year. Miller finished in second, with David Schmauss in third, Travis Varnadore in fourth and Musselman in fifth.

Roger Crouse and Varnadore made up the front row for the second Late Model feature. Keith Nosbisch started in the third. He would race Peacock battling, side-by-side for several laps. Nosbisch would take over on lap four and he and Peacock would make their way through traffic for 16 green flag laps. Caution would come out on lap 17 as Wallace Peacock would have a left rear flat, ending his night. When the checkered flag waved it was Nosbisch picking up the win, with Varnadore passing Peacock second. Schmauss and Miller rounded out the top five.

In other action, Dennis Wilson, Jr and Buck Woodhouse won their heat races for the Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks. For the feature it would be Jarod Gay and Roberto Morfin, Sr. leading the field to green. Gay quickly took over the lead when a pair of cautions flew. The first was for a spin by Thomas Burnside in turn four. The second was for a tangle between Billy Barstow and Buck Woodhouse in turn three.

After a restart on lap six, Wilson, Jr. suffered a flat right rear, sending him to the pits as he crew made repairs. On the final restart Gay would lead the way. With a few laps remaining his father Tim Gay was on his back. Tim gave Jarod a little tap, sending Jarod up the track and handing Tim the win.

“I would have done the same thing if my mom was leading” he said jokingly in victory lane.

Burnside finished in second, with Justin Rodgers in third, Jarod Gay in fourth and Wilson, Jr. in fifth.

Next were the East Bay Sprints. Winning their heats were Tim George and Kerry Gilbert. On the front row for the feature it would be Gene Lasker and Billy Boyd, Jr. When the green waved it was Lasker and Boyd side by side for the first lap until lap two when Joe Metcalf spun in turn four. Metcalf would then spin out on the next lap bringing out his second caution sending him to the infield. On the restart it was Lasker, Boyd and Gilbert until lap five when Lorenzo Capitano spun in turn two. That set up another restart between Lasker and Boyd, Jr. On lap six, Boyd, Jr. giving Lasker the slide and the two tangled. Lasker finally broke loose and had to park it for the night. Boyd Jr. was able to hold on and pick up the win with D.J. Peeples, Kerry Gilbert, Frank Beck and Tim George rounding out the top five.

The V8 Warriors feature was next with Jessica Robbins and Jeff Weaver winning their heats. For the feature it was Bill Whitney and Weaver making up the front row. Weaver would lead lap one until Marco Reyes had a right rear flat, drawing the caution. On lap seven it was Whitney and Weaver battling side by side for several laps. On lap nine Whitney would take over the lead until he was tapped by Weaver in turn 1, sending them both around. Kevin Cassaday went by them both and would take the checkered flag for his second feature win of the year. Henry Wiley was second, followed by William Suggs, Ron Smith and Bill Whitney.

The final event was for the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers. Winning their heats were John Moore and Wayne Kissam. For the front row of the feature it was Don R. Quinn and Kissam. Moore quickly took over the top spot, and would hold it until lap four when Raymond Vann would take over the lead. Vann would be hounded by Moore and Quinn as they looked for the lead. Caution would come out on lap 11 for debris. From there Vann would lead the field to the checkered flag with Moore, Jimmy Baker, Kissam and Troy Dittebrand rounding out the top five.

ASA racing continues next weekend as the Limited Late Models, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks, Outlaw Fours, Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers and the Florida Mini. For further information, visit eastbayracewaypark.com.
