Nicholson Races to USCS Sprint Car Win At Toccoa

Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee blasted from the K&N Filters Pole position to USCS victory lane on Sunday night at Toccoa Speedway in Toccoa, GA in the second annual Sunday of Speed USCS Winged Sprint Car event. The victory was Nicholson’s career-third USCS win and first of the 2013 season.

Nicholson stretched his lead to a half-lap over ten-time National Champion Terry Gray, who started sixth before the first caution flag flew on lap 16. Gray and Derek Hagar pulled up behind Nicholson on the re-start, but when the final 14 laps went caution free, they had to settle for second and third places where they were respectively running.

Eric Riggins, Jr. charged from his 13th place starting position to finish fourth. Morgan Turpen completed the top five drivers at the finish.

Michael Miller finished ahead of the next group of drivers in sixth place. Todd Fayard finished in the seventh position. Jake McLain followed in eighth place. Taylor Tidmore finished in ninth place and Terry Witherspoon completed the top ten drivers.

Hagar won the Hoosier Tire Speed Dash. Gray won the first heat. Lance Moss won the second heat.

In other action, veteran 600 sprint racer Rick Goss from Charlotte, NC raced from his third starting position into the lead on lap one of the twenty-lap USCS 600 Sprint Car Series main event for his third career USCS win.

Kyle Amerson from Matthews, AL chased Goss from close range but could not quite get the momentum to pass the leader, even with the help of one caution and one red flag period. Amerson crossed the finish line in the runner-up spot with Bob in third place. Tyler Price crossed the finish line in fourth place. Derek Warren finished in fifth place.

Bobby followed the top group in sixth place. Curt Schumacher finished in seventh followed by Sean Hosey in eighth place. Cassie Klenke finished in ninth position. Curt Schumacher won the six-lap Hoosier Race Tire Speed Dash. Hosey won the first heat. Amerson won the second heat.
