Allmendinger Fastest In Roar Before The 24 Opener

A.J. Allmendinger topped the Daytona Prototype speed charts Friday in the opening day of practice for the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series Roar Before The 24 testing sessions at Daytona International Speedway.

Despite a soggy start, Allmendinger would pilot the No. 60 Michael Shank Racing Ford/Riley, the same team he won the Rolex 24 with in 2012, to a lap of 1:42.918 (124.526 mph) towards the end of his 12 lap run during the afternoon session.  He was followed on the speed charts by the BMW/Rileys of Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates.
In GT, defending winner Andy Lally put the Magnus Racing No. 44 Porsche GT3 on top of the scoring pylon with a lap at 1:49.322 (117.232 mph).  He was trailed by Marco Holzer in the Alex Job Racing Porsche.
