In a statement released Tuesday afternoon, Lanier National Speedway officials confirmed the move of the 2012 CRA SpeedFest event from their facility to Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia, and encouraged fans to support the event.
“It is in the best interest of the racers, fans, and the entire racing industry,” the release read. “We are encouraging everyone to attend the race at Watermelon Capital Speedway. The dates are January 28-29, 2012. Lanier National Speedway will not hold an event for these dates.”
The release also addressed the reason for the CRA’s decision to move the event at such a late date.

The speedway also announced the rescheduled date for the Ice Cold Shriners Bowl, originally slated for Jan. 8. The event has now been rescheduled for Saturday, March 31.
