EASTABOGA, AL—The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series returned to the Talladega Short Track Saturday night, as defending series champion Riley Hickman of Cleveland, TN put on a dominating performance. After he arrived at the track in typical Riley Hickman fashion – late and missing hot laps – he first set overall fast time with a 14.814 lap and then proceeded to lead the entire 40 lap event to score his second win of the season, padding his series points lead.
Hickman was only slowed by three caution flags as he worked in and out of lapped traffic and built a lead over second fast qualifier Tom Maddox of Centre, AL early in the race. Later in the event, Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC, got the high side working and he got around Maddox for the second spot but time ran out as Hickman capped off his dominating performance with the win.
Cook finished in the runner up spot with Maddox bringing home third. Fourth went to Jason Croft of Woodstock, GA, in his first appearance with the series this year. Kyle Bead of Truman, AR, also in his first appearance of the season with the series, finished fifth.
Jake Knowles of Tyrone, GA, Brandon Kinzer of Allen, KY, Josh Adkins of Talladega, AL, Jeff Smith of Chatsworth, GA and Tim Roszell of Anniston, AL rounded out the top ten.
The top five drivers of Hickman, Cook, Maddox, Croft and Beard qualified for a $500 bonus at the Duck River Speedway on Nov 13-15 in the Deep Fried 75 if one of them wins the event.
The next Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series events will be the Gobbler Weekend with a pair of $5,000 to win events, Friday night November 21 at Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN, and on Saturday night, November 22 at Boyds Speedway in Ringgold, GA.
