Dakotah Knuckles and Dale McDowell put checkmarks in the win column over the weekend, as they both scored Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series victories.
Knuckles win came on Friday night at Tennessee’s Tazewell Speedway, while McDowell made the trip to victory lane at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee on Saturday night.
On Friday night, Knuckles, of Ewing, Virginia, jumped out to the early lead, and would stay on the point until lap 27, when Eric Wells took command of the race. Wells would lead from lap 28 until lap 34 then Knuckles would make a power move to the outside to grab the lead back and go on for his first big payday in the 40-lapper.
Dawsonville, Georgia’s Donald McIntosh finished in second, followed by Billy Ogle, Jr. in third, Shanon Buckingham in fourth and Eric Wells in fifth.
On Saturday night, Chicamauga, Georgia’s Dale McDowell rallied from his tenth starting spot to lead the last seven laps en route to the win at Volunteer.
At the drop of the green flag, McIntosh drove to the point early on and led the majority of the race. But he would lose the lead on lap 46 when McDowell powered to the front three laps after a restart. McDowell would go on to win and take his eighth career series victory.
McIntosh finished in second, with Jimmy Owens third, Toccoa, Georgia’s Casey Roberts in fourth and Cory Hedgecock in fifth.
The Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series will return to action this weekend in the Bluegrass State, as the tour visits Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky, on Friday, April 20, followed by a visit to Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday, April 21.
