A pair of Georgia racers took home top honors in Saturday’s CRA SpeedFest 2018 at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia.

Chandler Smith of Jasper, Georgia scored the biggest victory of his asphalt Super Late Model career with a win in the 200 lap feature.

Meanwhile, Senoia, Georgia veteran Bubba Pollard took the win in the 125 lap Pro Late Model feature.

For Smith, getting the win meant coming back from a penalty after he and Pollard made contact while trying to avoid a slower car in front of them. The contact sent Pollard spinning, and resulted in race officials sending Smith to the back of the field.

Smith recovered not only from that setback, but from his own spin from contact while trying to avoid a late-race melee.

Smith made the final pass for the lead on former event winner Jeff Choquette with 15 laps to go, and scampered away to the victory.

Pollard recovered to finish in second, followed by Choquette in third, Chase Purdy in fourth and Raphael Lessard in fifth.

Conner Okrzesik, Stephen Nasse, Brandon Jones, Carson Hocevar and Jerry Artuso rounded out the top ten.

Earlier in the afternoon, Pollard scored the victory in the 125 lap Pro Late Model event. It marked his first career win in the PLM portion of SpeedFest.

Pollard made the pass on Justin South with about 40 laps to go, and went on to the win. South had to settled for second in the end, followed by Casey Roderick in third, Jeff Choquette in fourth and Dawson Fletcher in fifth.

Corey Heim, Steve Dorer, Jack Dossey III, Jeff Choquette and Kyle Plott rounded out the top ten.
