Ross Bailes led flag-to-flag in Saturday night’s FASTRAK World Championship to take home the win at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Virginia.

The Clover, South Carolina racer jetted to lead on the opening lap and never looked backed, ultimately beating Chris Ferguson line by 0.985 seconds to pocket the $20,000 top prize.

Bailes was fast all night, as he also set quick time for the event with a 18.449 second lap in qualifying.

“If you don’t have a Barry Wright ICON race car you need to get you one, this car was flawless all weekend,” Bailes said. “I can’t thank Barry Wright and the crew enough for putting such a great cat under me.”

Ross Bailes and Corey Almond led the 24 car field to the green flag, with Bailes jumping to the lead out of turn 2 and Jake Hawkins following to second. The first caution of the event would fly on lap 3, with Hawkins blowing a motor while running second.

On the restart, Bailes pulled away with Ryan Montgomery working his way to second. By lap 17, Bailes was working lap traffic with Montgomery closing. On a lap 19 restart, Almond spun in front of the field collecting Thomas Robinson and Justin Williams, bringin out the red flag.

An eight car pile-up broke out on the following restart when one car drove over the hood of another car coming, resulting in another red flag.

Back under green, Bailes pulled away from the field as Ferguson began to pick off several positions moving to second just past the halfway point.

With eight laps to go, a caution came out when Daryl Charlier slowed in turn 2, erasing Bailes advantage over Ferguson and setting up a sprint to the finish.

Back under green, Ferguson tried to stay with the leader, but Bailes was able to stretch his lead. With two laps to go Ferguson, closed to within two car lengths, but could get no closer as Bailes took the win win.

Ferguson settled for second, followed by Ryan Montgomery in third, Walker Arthur in fourth and Tyler Bare in fifth.
