Thomas Segars must have really wanted to donate money to a good cause on Saturday night.

Segars stacked the leaders three-wide on the drop of the green flag in the Mod Street feature at Georgia’s Hartwell Speedway, claiming the early lead and going on to lead every lap en route to the victory.

Earlier in the night, the Segars and his team announced that half of their winnings on the night would be donated to Justin Tollison, an ailing area racing enthusiast.

Tollison, who hailed from Hartwell, Georgia, passed away on Sunday. He had been recently diagnosed with stage 4 Leukemia. Several members of the North Georgia racing community worked Saturday night to raise funds to help pay for the 25-year-olds funeral expenses.

Hartwell Speedway provided several opportunities for fans and teams to donate to the cause. With the win, Segars donated half of his $400 winner’s paycheck.

In all, the raceway raised $2,934 for Tollison, almost half of the $6,000 overall goal.

Once Segars got to the front, he held the lead for the rest of the 15-lap feature. Behind him, Preston Strickland and Artie Ridgeway battled for the runner-up spot, with Strickland challenging for the position time and again.

Coming to the checkered flag, Strickland got a strong run off the fourth turn, beating Ridgeway by inches to take second. Aaron McIntosh followed them across the line to finish in fourth, with Russell Shore in fifth.

In other action, pole sitter Adam Partain jumped to the early lead in the Crate Late Model feature, and led wire-to-wire in to score the win in a caution-free race.

Behind Partain, Danny Sanders and Larry Timms, both with victories under their belts at Hartwell Speedway over the past few weeks, battled for second. When the checkered flag flew, it was Sanders beating Timms to take the runner-up spot, with Eric Veal in fourth, followed by Grant Jordan in fifth.

In the Stock V8 feature, Chris Brown and Ricky Chamberland brought the field to the green. But when the two tangled in turn two on the opening lap, Stephen House drove to the outside to take the lead, and would go on to score the victory. Chamberland finished second, with Paul Moore in third and Brown in fourth.

Shane Yarborough took the win in the Hobby feature, with Keith Baker, Chad Atha, Joe Cash and Donald McDonald rounding out the top five.

Brent Couch was the winner in the Stock 4 feature. Holten Bradshaw finished in second, followed by Bubba Nation in third, Pete Whitley in fourth and Jordan Brown in fifth.

Joel Powell, Jr. held off Seth Brown to score the Front Wheel Drive feature victory. Joel Cabe finished in third, with North West in fourth and Hoss Collins in fifth.
