Jimmy Johnson used a bold outside pass on Travis Pennington to take the lead in Saturday night’s Limited Late Model feature just past the half-way point, and went on to score the $2000 victory at Georgia’s Lavonia Speedway.

After surviving a multi-car melee on the initial start that saw Mason Tucker flip and saw Dustin Mincey and Kenny Collins suffer race-ending damage, Johnson powered to the extreme high side on a restart just past the crossed flag signal, making it stick to grab a lead he would not relinquish. Pennington made a retaliatory challenge to retake the point, but it proved to be of no avail as Johnson would maintain his lead and score the extra-purse win.

Ashley Poole, who had turned in the second quick qualifying time, logged a third-place finish ahead of Gus Simpson in fourth and Bubba Russell in fifth.

Ronald Woods, Shun Thomas, Corey Roulette, Chris Segars and Collins rounded out the top ten.

In other action, Blake Craft scored a hugely popular win in the 602 Hobby class feature as he survived a serious challenge from Jeff Robinson, who was gunning for this third consecutive division win. Nick Schlager took, third, with Rusty House in fourth and Cody Smith in fifth.

Rusty Jordan scored the Modified Street win over the previous week’s winner Michael McTier. Daniel Doster, Johnny Pilgrim and Daniel Snow rounded out the top five.

Jack Hill scored his fourth consecutive Stock V-8 victory, withstanding a fierce challenge from Chris Cape. In tying his career-best win streak, Hill pulled away in the waning laps after Cape encountered trouble in lapped traffic and fell to sixth. Evan Brown finished second, with Timmy Jones in third, Jeremy Hill in fourth and Chris Smith in fifth.

Danny Sexton scored the tentative win in the Stock 4 feature, as tire protests filed against both he and second place Kevin Kelly are still pending at press time. Sexton got out early from the front row while Kelly encountered trouble with a broken strut forcing him to the rear of the field. Even with the damage, Kelly stormed back through the field to finish second putting heavy pressure on Sexton over the closing laps. Unofficially, Ryan Boles finished third, followed by Scott Hollars in fourth and Todd Wade in fifth.

Hunter Anthony scored a dominant win in the Front Wheel Drive division, with B.J. Gillespie in second, Lance Sentell in third, Tony Stevens in fourth and Mark Taylor in fifth.

Preston Kelly he won his third straight Beginner 4-Cylinder feature, followed by Tyler Riddle in second ahead of Thomas Bright in third, Nathaniel Little in fourth and Jacob Kelly in fifth.
