It seems only fitting that, with the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series having a two-race weekend in Georgia that a pair of Peach State drivers would record the victories.
Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Georgia recorded the victory on Friday night at Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, Georgia. The next night, Douglasville, Georgia’s Michael Page scored the win at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia.
On Friday night, Roberts led wire-to-wire to claim the $4,000 top prize at Lavonia Speedway in an event co-sanctioned with the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series.
Starting from the pole, Roberts took the lead from the start of the 40-lap feature, and held off Jason Whelshan en route to the victory.
Ross Bailes finished in third, with Zack Mitchell in fourth and Tyler Millwood in fifth.
Brent Dixon, Jeff Smith, Anthony Sanders, Scott Shirey and Shane Tankersley rounded out the top ten.
On Saturday night, Michael Page only led one lap of the 40-lap feature at Dixie Speedway, but it was the one worth $4,000. Page trailed race leader Jason Croft for 39 laps, but went for broke on the 40th and final lap.
After taking the white flag, Page stepped to the outside of the 3/8-mile clay oval and made it work as he swept around Croft going off turn two with the crowd on their feet. Page then came on around to take a .730 second margin of victory under the checkered flag.
Croft had to settle for second, while third went to series point leader Tyler Millwood.
Dale Thurman finished fourth, with and Ross Bailes in fifth.
Jason Hiatt, Ronnie Johnson, Jason Welshan, Johnny Chastain and Austin Smith rounded out the top ten.
The next race for the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series will be a National Race at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennesee on Thursday night, August 17.
The series will then move to Tennessee’s Crossville Speedway on Friday night, August 18.
