Gus Simpson Scores Limited Late Model Win At Hartwell

Gus Simpson held off one of the strongest Northeast Georgia Late Model drivers this season – Jimmy Johnson – to score the Limited Late Model feature victory Saturday night at Georgia’s Hartwell Speedway.

Simpson, of Gainesville, Georgia, was able to hold Johnson at bay to take home the win at the 3/8-mile clay raceway.

Dustin Mincey came home in third, followed by Bubba Russell in fourth and Drew Collins in fifth.

In other action, Dale Timms took the win in the Hobby Stock feature, with Cameron Crowe in second, Aaron Calvert in third, Shane Yarbrough in fourth and Ty Anglin in fifth.

Chad Sellers was the winner in the Modified Street feature. Daniel Doster finished second, with Johnny Pilgrim third, Preston Strickland fourth and Chase Burdette fifth.

Stephen House scored the victory in the Stock V8 feature, followed by Shannon Duck in second, Jeremy Jones in third, Chad Hoopaugh in fourth and Chris Brown in fifth.

Chris Little took the win in the Stock Four feature, with Jeff Dobbs, Scott Hollars, Ryan Boles and Pete Whitley rounding out the top five.

Jon Sanford was the winner in the Rookie feature, with Bradley Ogletree in second, Caylan Kettle in third, Jeb Kelley in fourth and Trent Blackwell in fifth.

Hunter Anthony took top honors in the Up Front feature, followed by Joel Powell, Jr. in second, Joel Powell, Sr. in third and Seth Brown in fourth.
