Donald McIntosh added his name to the list of drivers to score Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series victories on Saturday night, as he drove to the win in the Big Daddy 500 at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee.
The win didn’t come easy for the Dawsonville, Georgia racer, as he battled with Chris Ferguson and Skip Arp throughout the 40-lap event. The leaders battled for the lead while negotiating lap traffic.
Ferguson led early, but McIntosh and Arp reeled him in. McIntosh put his car out front for good on lap 22, as Arp tried several times to take the top spot. Arp would have to settle for second after his car began overheating.
Ferguson finished in third, with Acworth, Georgia’s T.J. Reaid in fourth and Shannon Buckingham in fifth.
Tommy Kerr, Austin Horton, Robby Moses, Eric Hickerson and Billy Ogle. Jr. rounded out the top ten.
The next Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series event will be the rescheduled Michael Head, Jr. Memorial on Saturday night, July 1 at Georgia’s Senoia.
