Dale Timms took the lead eight laps into the Alpha Alpha Art 602 Thunder Series feature at Georgia’s Toccoa Raceway, and went on to score the victory Saturday night.

The Hodges, South Carolina speedster turned in the fastest lap in qualifying around the historic 5/16 mile clay oval. He would move to the outside of the front row on the inversion roll, with Brandon Loudermilk moving to the pole.

On the opening lap, Timms edged out to the lead, but saw the advantage go away when several cars spun off turn four. In all, some six cars were collected in the melee, bringing out the first caution of the night.

On the restart, Loudermilk would get the advantage, moving to the point and pacing the race for the next seven laps. Meanwhile, Timms was looking for an advantage, driving to the inside of Loudermilk on several laps, threatening to get by.

On lap eight, Timms finally got the run he needed on the inside of turn 4, just edged in front of Loudermilk as the two crossed the finish line. Loudermilk tried to counter in turn one, but ended up spinning in turn two to bring out the second caution of the night.

Back under green, Timms jumped out to the lead, and would go unchallenged the rest of the way to score the victory.

Brandon Stroud would follow Timms across the finish line to finish in second, with Cameron Crowe in third, Ben Riggins in fourth and Nick Sellers in fifth.

Rod Roberts, John Howard, Jeff Robinson, Joey McCoy and Josh Roberts rounded out the top ten.
