Mike Marlar scored the victory in Friday night’s Scott Sexton Memorial for the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee.
The win was worth $10,052 to the Winfield, Tennesse driver. It also marked Marlar’s sixth career series win, putting him on top of the Spring Nationals all-time win list
Michael Chilton took the race lead at the drop of the green flag, with Marlar, Chris Madden, Jimmy Owens, and Shanon Buckingham giving chase. Chilton would open up a a lead until he began to work slower traffic on lap 9, allowing Marlar to close.
The pair would battle side-by-side for the lead on lap 14. Marlar would take the spot two laps later with a pass off turn four.
From there, Marlar went on to the win in an event that went caution free. Madden finished in second, with Dale McDowell in third, Jimmy Owend in fourth and Michael Chilton in fifth.
Donald McIntosh, Shanon Buckingham, Eric Wells, Kyle Hardy and Brandon Sheppard rounded out the top ten.
