Susan Spikes scored her first Summit ET Drag Racing Super Pro victory of the 2017 season at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia in a new dragster on Saturday.

It wasn’t that she had set out to get herself a new ride. The dragster that she had raced last season – and that she had seen a lot of success in – was stolen.

But you can’t keep a good racer down.

Spikes, who hails from Commerce, piloted ’01 Undercover Dragster to the victory over fellow Commerce driver Chas Ledford with a 4.939 ET off her 4.94 dial in (break out) at 137.90 mph and a 0.046 reaction time. Ledford ran a 5.280 ET on his 5.29 dial in (double break out) at 127.98 mph and a reaction of 0.015.

In other action, Judy Blalock, Sr. piloted his 1949 Hudson to his first Pro victory in two years.

During the final, Blalock ran a 7.016 ET on his dial in of 6.80 at 92.02 mph and a -0.048 reaction time. In a first or worst foul start his opponent Brad Hall fouled out first. Hall ran an 8.533 ET with an 8.52 dial in at 78.67 mph and a -0.001 foul start.

In the Sportsman final, Allen Chaffer piloted his 2016 Dodge Challenger to the victory against Russell Haskins. Schaffer ran a 14.679 ET on his 14.64 dial in at 92.86 mph with a reaction of 0.041, while Haskins ran a 12.420 ET off his 12.35 dial in at 107.62 mph and a 0.018 reaction.

Jimmy Heisler doubled up with wins in both the Super Pro Bike and Street ET Bike divisions.

In the Super Pro Bike final, Heisler ran a 10.648 ET off his 10.61 dial in at 122.49 mph and a 0.049 reaction time to defeat Jordan Autrey, who ran a 9.274 ET off a dial in of 9.28 (break out) at 144.94 mph and a reaction of 0.165.
