Robbie Stillwaggon doubled up in USCS Sprint Car Series action over the weekend, as he swept both series Thunder In Carolina races.

Stillwaggon scored the win on Friday night at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, North Carolina, and returned to victory lane on Saturday night at South Carolina’s Lancaster Speedway.

On Friday night at Carolina Speedway, Stillwaggon started from the outside of the front row next to pole winner Terry Gray. Gray and Stillwaggon lost the lead position to Trey Starks, who started out side row two, on the first lap. Starks led the race through the first six laps before the red flag came out when Danny Jones flipped his car exiting turn two.

Four laps later, Jones would hit a rut exiting the second turn, sending him for a hard crash.

Back under green, Stillwaggon used the clean air to drive away from the competition and score the victory.

Johnny Bridges finished in second, with Danny Smith in third, Gray in fourth and Johnny Petrozelle in fifth.

On Saturday night the action shifted to Lancaster Speedway, where two things happened on lap 20 of the 25 lap feature that helped Stillwaggon to his third career series victory.

First, Stillwaggon was able to capitalize on Smith’s mechanical misfortune when Smith coasted to the pits after leading laps five through 20.

On that same lap, Bridges crashed out of the speedway after something broke in his steering system. Fortunately, Bridges escaped incident uninjured.

When the action finally resumed, Stillwaggon inherited the lead and charged to the win.

Trey Starks, Jordan Mallett, Eric Riggins, Jr. and Brandon McClain rounded out the top five.
