Roberts Rockets To Opening Late Model Win At Anderson

On Friday night, David Roberts picked up pretty much where he left off last year, as the defending Late Model Stock division champion scored the opening night victory at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, South Carolina.

Roberts scored 10 feature victories in the 2016 season. The Simpsonville, South Carolina speedster picked up his first of 2017 by outdistancing fellow Late Model veteran R.A. Brown en route to the checkered flag at the 3/8 mile paved raceway.

Luke Sorrow finished in second, with Kenneth Headen in third and Jefferson, Georgia driver Taylor Satterfield in fifth.

Neil Meredith, Jeremy Burns, Kevin Barrett, Omar Jurado and Kevin Sterling rounded out the top ten.

In other action, David Darnell beat out Ryan Howard for the win in the Mini Stock feature. Jeffrey Kummer came home in third, followed by Chad Campbell in fourth and B.J. Thrasher in fifth.

Billy Brown scored the victory in the Renegade feature. Shane Brown finished second, with Chris Whitfield third, Jonathon Ragsdale fourth and Jeff Shiflett fifth.

Phillip Peters was the winner in the Super Limited feature, with Shaun Mize, Steve Carver, Billy Coker and Kevin Sterling rounding out the top five.

In the BM Modifieds feature, Chuck Mitchell took the win. Austin Northcutt finished in second, with Brandon Segars in third, Jamie Winslett in fourth and Richard Starkey in fifth.

Chris Harvell scored the victory in the Front Wheel Drive feature, with Scott Parker in second, Tommy Davis in third, Jason Richey in fourth and Carey Smith in fifth.
