David Payne made the trip from Murphy, North Carolina to Woodstock, Georgia worth the effort, as he scored the win in the Super Late Model feature at Dixie Speedway.

Murphy kept a comfortable lead throughout the race. Dale Thurman followed in second, but gave way to Frank Ingram in the early laps. On lap 11, Mike McConnell spun, drawing the caution.

On the restart, Ingram suddenly slowed, sending everyone behind him scrambling to avoid him and handing second place back to Thurman, with Justin Shipley moving to third.

Luther Jenkins took advantage of the melee to move to fourth. Over the closing laps, Jason Croft moved up to take over the fourth position.

Meanwhile, up front, Payne moved away to score the victory, with Thurman in second, Shipley in third, Croft in fourth and Jenkins in fifth.

Johnny Cloer, Jeremy Ledford, Bobby Tucker, McConnell and Eric Granger rounded out the top ten.

It was Championship night for the Steel Head Late Model feature, and Jason Smith looked to be heading for the win as he led by a straightaway 10 laps into the race. It was not to be, however, as Smith ran into the back of a lapped car coming through turn one and two, ending his night.

That handed the lead over to Matt Black, with Andy Morris in pursuit. Morris held onto second until his car pushed high through the turns allowing Scottie Pritchett and Chris Fennell to pass him by.

Meanwhikle, Black went on to take the victory, with Pritchett in second, Fennell in third, Morris in fourth and Cort Carringer in fifth.

Logan Palmer was working to hold off Will Roland in hopes of recording his first career Crate Late Model feature win. But it all went away when both cars came upon a lapped car. Palmer went around the high side and Roland, seeing the only chance he would have, nose dived through the middle making a clean pass for the lead. Form there, Roland went on to record the victory. Palmer would come home second, followed by Hunter Jones in third, Tate Nichelson in fourth and Jason Morris in fifth.

In the Super Bomber feature, Daniel Brewer scored the win, with Alan Brewer in second, Donny Thurman in third, Travis Smith in fourth and Matt Thompson in fifth.

Dalton Polston took the lead at the drop of the green flag in the Economy Bomber class and never looked back en route to picking up the victory. Joe Trantham, Dan Meadows, James Gagnon and Corey Wright rounded out the top five.

Tony Newman was the winner in the Street Stingers feature, with Robert Farmer in second, Brian Dempsey in third, Cody Sisson in fourth and Byron Sisson in fifth.

After a week off, Dixie Speedway will return to action on Saturday, Aug. 27 for the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Charity race, fearuing a $1,000 to win Reverse Race, along with a $1,000 Wheelspin Championship, Spectator Racing plus more.
