After completing a perfect slide job on a pair of drivers, veteran short track ace Clint ‘Cat Daddy’ Smith drove to his sixth Super Late Model feature win of the season at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA.

Smith slid in front of Mason Massey to gain second before performing the same feat two laps later to take the lead over Joey Armistead before moving away to the win.

Armistead flexed his muscle early as he and Massey battled for the lead position. Each time Massey tried to get a run, Armistead would slam the door shut.

The two battled for several laps until lap 17 when Clint Smith ran low in turn one, sliding up the banking in turn two to shut off the momentum of Massey and steal away second place.

Two laps later, he performed the exact same move on Armistead to claim the lead with five laps to go. Smith pushed his lead to a few car lengths while Armistead and Massey continued to fight for second.

On the final lap, with Smith firmly in the lead and pulling away, Massey tried to gain the low groove on Armistead as the two slid sideways out of the final turn. While the duo gained control, Joey Armistread’s dad, Joe Armistead, Jr., tucked his car up against the wall and snuck past the unsuspecting Massey to steal away third by less than a foot at the finish line. Zach Leonhardi finished in fifth.

In the Limited Late Model feature, Smith waited until the last lap to create his heroics. Jason Williams had the lead when Smith began closing with two to go. Williams ran high out of turn two on the final lap, allowing Smith to shoot down low. The two raced side-by-side into turn three, with Smith gaining the advantage just before the finish line to take the win.

Williams, would settle for second place, followed by Chris Carr in third, Glenn Morris in fourth and Oliver Gentry in fifth.

Dylan Knowles held off Bobby Mills to score the Crate Late Model feature victory. Craig Scott finished in third, followed by Montana Dudley in fourth and Marty Lunsford in fifth.

Jack Mills used a slide job to take the lead late, and then held off Billy Stevenson to take the B Cadet feature victory. Jamie Maurice, Parrish Duncan and Clyde Alexander rounded out the top five.

Curtis Turner took advantage of Chris Steele misfortune to take the Hobby Stock feature victory. Steele was leading when his car lost power on lap six and had to drop from the race. Turner led the rest of the way to take the win, with James Swanger in second, Joe Hillman in third, Josh Pitt in fourth and Lee McElwaney in fifth.

Marc Leath led flag-to-flag without a single caution to win the Mini Stock feature. Parris Simmons ran second in his first ever visit to Senoia, with Jamie Nicholson, Jr. in third, Mike Younginer in fourth and Jamie Nicholson, Sr. in fifth.

In the Bomber feature, Dorough Bright led wire-to-wire to win his second straight race. Tim Harmon was second with his son, Brent Harmon, in third. Jim Jackson came home in fourth and Derrick Matthews in fifth .

The racing continues at Senoia Raceway on Saturday, July 22, with the Super Late Model, Limited Late Model, Crate Late Model, B Cadet, Hobby Stock, Mini Stock and Bomber divisions all scheduled to race.
