Lee Takes NeSmith WRS Points Lead With LA 36 Win

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS drove the Billy Riels Racing Special to victory on Saturday night at LA 36 Speedway in Lacombe, LA.

The win, along with a second-place finish in Week 1, give Lee 99 points and the lead in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings after Week 2 competition.

Scott Dedwylder of Vossburg, MS has two second-place finishes in the first two weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition and is second in the standings with 98 points. Dedwylder finished second on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the Dedwylder Racing Special.

Robbie Starnes of Baytown, TX drove the Lone Star Hydro and Maintenance Special to victory on Saturday night at Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX. That moved Starnes up to third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 97 points.

Bryan Foy of Lacombe, LA is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series with 96 points. Foy drove the B&K Contracting Trak-Star to a third-place finish on Saturday night at LA 36 Speedway. Tootie Arnold of Meadeville, MS and Hunter Lewis of Moss Point, MS are tied for the fifth spot in the standings with 92 points apiece.

Arnold finished ninth on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the Miss-Lou Mobile Home Movers Trak-Star. Lewis drove the T. Lewis Construction Rocket to a fifth-place finish on Saturday night in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 2 action at LA 36 Speedway.

Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series driver 16-year-old Bryant Marsh of Corinth, MS is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 91 points. Marsh finished 13th on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway.

Scott Ladner of Lacombe, LA drove the Ladner Racing Special to his second straight sixth-place finish on Saturday night at LA 36 Speedway. That gives Ladner 90 points and the eighth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings after Week 2 competition.

Chris Reid of Wiggins, MS and the youngest Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series driver 13-year-old Colton Horner of Katy, TX are tied for the ninth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 89 points apiece. Reid finished fourth on Saturday night at LA 36 Speedway in the Shorty Motorsports Special and Horner drove the Houston Specialty Products Company Special to a second-place finish on Saturday night at Battleground Race Park.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 2 action, the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS topped a 31-car field Saturday night to take the win at Magnolia Motor Speedway in the Washington Racing Special. The defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS took the win on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway.

Steve Kirk of Munford, AL was the winner on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Advanced Lazer Machine Trak-Star. Brandon Brzozowski of Elmendorf, TX will be the answer to a trivia question, as he is the first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model winner at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, TX after taking the victory on Saturday night in the Brzozowski Racing Special.

The entire NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 2 Friday night schedule was rained out. Week 2 Friday night races at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS and Magnolia Motor Speedway were won by Mother Nature.

Defending and four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL leads the standings with three wins. Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV, GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR, Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN and CVR Race Cars of Loudon, TN are still looking for their first wins of 2016.
