Donald McIntosh continued his early season success on Saturday, as he drove to the victory in the weather delayed Cabin Fever 40 at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA.

The Dawsonville, GA racer took the lead on lap seven of the 40 lap feature, and drove away to snag the $3,500 payday, making him the sixth different winner in the eight Cabin Fever events.

Dale McDowell took the early lead, with McIntosh nipping at his heels. Meanwhile, Ethan Hunter, Tyler Millwood and Michael Page gave chase through the top five. McIntosh would continue to pressure McDowell for the point, and on lap six he pulled alongside of the leader off turn four. One lap later, McIntosh would take the top spot.

The first caution of the day flew on lap 9 when Cory Hedgecock’s machine slowed on the front stretch with mechanical issues.

Back under green, McIntosh began to set a torrid pace and would begin working slower traffic by lap 14. The second and final caution of the event would fly on lap 17 when third place running Page and fourth place running Millwood tangled in turn three. Page’s mount was too damaged to continue.

Once action resumed, McIntosh powered back to the lead and was again working slower traffic by lap 23. By lap 30, he had pushed his advantage to almost a half-track lead over McDowell.

But McIntosh would not be denied, as he drove away to score the win. McDowell would settle for second, while Cook finished in third. Jason Manley came home in fourth, with Todd Hernandez in fifth.

Jake Knowles, Riley Hickman, David Brannon, Robbie Mason and Derek Ellis rounded out the top ten.

Boyd’s Speedway returns to action on March 18. For more information, visit BoydsSpeedway.net.
