Jimmy Thomas took home a big pay day from Senoia Raceway Saturday night, as he drove to the Crate Late Model victory at the Senoia, GA speedway.

Craig Scott led the race from the drop of the green with Jimmy Thomas giving chase. Scott worked through lapped traffic near perfectly keeping Thomas at a distance the entire race. The only thing that caught up to Scott was the post race technical inspection where he was found to have engine seals from an unknown origin. That resulted in his disqualification and awarded the victory to Jimmy Thomas. Third place finisher Steven Bloodworth was also disqualified during inspection.

In other action, Matt Dooley looked like he had the field covered in the Limited Late Model feature. Dooley led every lap but the most important one – the final lap. His car broke a wheel in turn one after taking the white flag, causing him to slow down on the back stretch. That opened the door for Joey Armistead to move past for the victory. Armistead clinched his first career season point’s title, beating two-time defending points champion Glenn Morris to the finish line. Shane Criswell was third.

Joe Armistead, Jr. led flag-to-flag for the victory in the Super Late Model division. Armistead held off all late race challenges from his track rival, Clint “Cat Daddy” Smith, who had to settle for the runner-up spot. Austin Horton finished third in only his second Super Late Model start of the season. Ricky Williams was fourth, with Shane Fulcher in fifth.

Parrish Duncan dominated the B Cadet feature as several contenders bowed out early during race. Duncan also secured his track title.

Ben Wells redeemed himself in the Hobby Stock division a week after being disqualified from the victory. Wells finished ahead of Clyde Alexander on his way to the win. Alexander finished second ahead of Curtis Turner in third.

Robert Caldwell and Bo Chambers continued their dog fight for the season title in the Mini Stock division. Chambers was black flagged from the race for rough driving as he spun Caldwell with only a few laps remaining. Caldwell finished sixth behind race winner Harold Leath while Chambers was relegated to last place. The separation gives Caldwell a four point lead heading into the final night of racing this weekend.

The final regular season points race for Senoia Raceway is slated for Saturday, Sept. 19. For more info, visit SenoiaRaceway.com.
