After a wild crash last month left Clint “Cat Daddy” Smith’s Super Late Model demolished, Smith returned to Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA Saturday night, and took his rebuilt car to victory lane.

Smith claimed the pole position with the fastest lap in qualifying and then held off Ashton Winger in a wild first lap start. The win was Smith’s eighth of the season and places him firmly in the top spot for the season point’s awards.

In other action, Tod Darda led every lap of the Limited Late Model feature to win his second straight race at the raceway. Darda has won 36 features at the track since its return to a dirt surface in 2010. Joey Armistead finished second ahead of Glenn Morris.

Craig Scott led every lap but the last one in the Crate Late Model main event, as he car lost power in the second turn of the final lap. The unfortunate turn of events allowed for Bobby Mills to fly by and claim the victory ahead of Zack Shelton Trey Wood. The win was a first of the season for Mills.

Paul Walters scored his fifth win of the season in the Bombers feature after wrestling away the top spot from Derrick Matthews on lap five. Matthews was later involved in a wreck with Wilson Boozer. Walters would take the checkers ahead of Lee Owenby, Jr. and Blake Harmon.

J.J. Garrett won the Mini Stock feature in his first visit to the track. His teammate, Jessica Still, finished in second ahead of Bo Chambers. Chambers used his third place finish to move into the points lead as his nearest rival, Robert Chandle,r bowed out early in the race. He now leads Chandler by two points heading into the final two race nights of the season.

Blant Duke shot to the lead at the initial green flag and then left the remainder of the field to decide who would finish second. After several cautions, Duke remained unscathed and $1000 richer winning the shortened special event for the B Cadets. Dusty Jones finished second after a great battle with Joseph Brown. Buddy George ran a solid race to finish in fourth ahead of Marc Gooden.

A scary crash in the Legends Cars special event saw early race leader Bubba Harry spin in turn one, with Zach Leonhardi slamming into him. Both drivers walked away from the hard impact, but their race cars were badly damaged.

Jason Treschl inherited the lead and then held off several challenges by Joshua Hicks to win his first feature of the season. Lee Jordan was third.

Ben Wells traded paint with Scott Sherrer on the first lap of the Hobby Stock special event. After that, nobody could touch the current points leader. That is until the post race technical inspection. Wells, who had six previous feature wins, was protested after the race and found to have an illegal module in his distributor. The win was handed over to the runner-up Mike Archer with all other drivers moving up one position.

Only two points races remain on the Senoia Raceway schedule for the 2015 season. This Saturday, September 12, will feature special $1000 to win races for the Crate Late Model and Bomber divisions. The schedule will also include Super Late Models, Limited Late Models, B Cadets, Hobby Stocks and Mini Stocks.
