The name Chastain has been announced as the Super Late Model winner several times this season from victory lane at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA.

But Saturday night, instead of it being Shawn Chastain celebrating the win, it was his brother, Johnny Chastain, taking top honors at the legendary 3/8 clay raceway, with Shawn Chastain, the current division points leader, finishing in second.

Johnny Chastain took the early lead, staying ahead of challengers Michael Page and Shawn Chastain, who were in close pursuit. Shawn made the move from third to first on lap five and looked to pad a few extra points on the board until Page made his move on lap 17 to take the lead, followed by Shawn in second, with Johnny falling to third.

A few laps later, Johnny passed Shawn back for the second spot and gave chase to Page. Page took the checkers only to be found light at the scales in post race inspection, stripping him of the win and giving Johnny Chastain his first victory of the season.

Shawn moved up to second gaining a number of points on second place point man Dale Thurman who suffered a bad night finishing 11th. Jacob Grizzle had his season best finish following in third ahead of David Payne in fourth and Frank Ingram in fifth.

In other action, Chuck Padgett made his way to victory lane for the first time this season in the Steel Head/525 feature, as he led wire to wire to score the win ahead of Jason Smith in second, Chris Fennell in third, Brian Jackson in fourth and Alan Brewer in fifth. Points leader Don Jenkins had a bad night, as handling problems gave him an eight place finish.

Jimmy Thomas, making only his second trip to Dixie Speedway thus far this season, took the win in the Crate Late Model feature. This caused a shake up in the points battle that left Shane Smith and Zach Pilcher tied for the points lead with only three races left in the point season. Matt Black followed Thomas in second with Pilcher in third, Justin Shipley in fourth and Smith in fifth.

In the Super Bomber feature, Daniel Brewer held off Ronnie Haynes for the win, who in turn held off Andy Morris for second. Justin Begley and Gary Hardin rounded out the top five.

Austin Smith found his way back to victory lane in the Economy Bomber feature, extending his division points lead. John Davis was the early leader but fell back to second on lap 11 when Smith took the point. Dan Meadows came home in third, with Kyle Beavers in fourth and Landon Bagby in fifth.

Jamie Cross moved to the front of the Pony Stock division feature to take win number 14 on the season. Mitchell Pope finished second ahead of Bo Jordan in third, Jason Berrong in fourth and David Kirkland in fifth.

It was Anthony Pittmans night as he took the win in the Cruiser Division with Randy Ledford second, Jimmy Wilson third, Stephen Smith fourth and George Wilson in fifth.

Dixie Speedway will be out of action until August 29, when a full racing card is on the schedule, along with a Front Wheel Drive demolition derby. For more info, visit DixieSpeedway.com.
