Mayfield Tops Super Pro Field For Atlanta Dragway Victory

Wesley Mayfield from Gainesville, GA in his ’03 Worthy Chevy Dragster won his second Super Pro race in a row in the first of two Summit ET double features Saturday at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, GA.

Mayfield defeated Jeremy Hancock from Commerce, GA in his Chevy Dragster. In the finals, Mayfield ran a 4.80 (break out) on a 4.82 dial in at 139.43 mph with a .023 reaction to Hancock’s 4.79 (break out) on a 4.81 dial in at 139.11 mph and a .042 reaction. Third place went to Michael Brown of Covington, GA in his ’96 Horton.

Travis Bryant of Bowman, GA in his ’68 Camaro defeated Sue Wilson from Tallapoosa, GA in her ’86 Chevy S-10 for the Pro victory. Bryant ran a 6.53 ET on a 6.53 dial in at 102.59 mph with .017 reaction time. Wilson ran a 7.27 ET on a 7.26 dial in at 89.55 mph with a .030 reaction. Third place went to Chad Brewer from Canton, GA in his ’73 Nova and fourth went to Jessie Wilson from Tallapoosa, GA in his ’71 Nova

In Sportsman action, Scott Reynolds from Cartersville, GA in his ’02 Camaro defeated Nick Wagner’s ’04 Neon from Jefferson, GA. In the final, Reynolds ran a 13.48 ET on a 13.36 dial in at 94.25 mph with a .016 reaction time over Wagner’s 13.74 ET on a 13.48 dial in at 100.34 mph and a .029 reaction.  Third place went to Mike Newby from Roswell, GA in his ’69 Chevelle.

David Fletcher of Lawrenceville, GA took the Pro Bike win on his ’84 Kawasaki over Randy Barnett from Colbert, GA on a Suzuki GSXR. Fletcher ran a 9.09 ET on an 8.94 dial in at 133.75 mph to Barnett’s 9.27 ET on a 9.26 dial in at 141.80 mph. The reaction time for Fletcher made the difference, with a .018 to Barnett’s .165. Third place went to Jimmy Heisler on his’ 00 Kawasaki.

Jimmy Heisler from Woodstock, GA won in the Street ET Bike final on his ’00 Kawasaki. Heisler beat Randall Long from Buckhead, GA for the win. Randy Barnett from Colbert, GA came in third on his ’08 Suzuki GSXR. In the final, Heisler ran a 10.75 ET on a 10.73 dial in at 122.39 mph to Long’s 9.42 ET on a 9.35 dial in at 139.91 mph.

In the second round of racing action, Gary Dunn from Flowery Branch, GA in a ’82 S-10 won in Super Pro by defeating Susan Spikes from Commerce, GA in her ‘98 Mills Dragster. In the final round, Dunn ran a 6.13 ET on a 6.19 dial in at 109.98 mph with a .023 reaction while Spikes ran a 5.66 ET on a 5.66 dial in at 122.24 mph with a foul.  Third place went to Matt Bates from Loganville, GA in his ’37 Ford Roadster with fourth going to Hank Wilham from Gainesville, GA in his Chevy Dragster.

Pro winner Greg Allen from Greenwood, SC in his ’80 Camaro defeated Steve Wagner from Jefferson, GA in his ‘69 Dart. Allen ran a 6.93 ET on a 6.93 dial at 100.33 with a .016 react. Wagner ran a 7.45 ET on a 7.39 dial in at 85.60 mph with a .040 reaction. Third place went to Allen Long from Ball Ground, GA in his’68 Camaro.

Russell Haskins from Marietta, GA scored the Sportsman win in his 2013 Mustang, defeating Ed Nalley from Carnesville, GA in a ‘83 Chevy Truck. Haskins ran a 12.46 ET on a 12.46 dial at 113.85 mph with a .079 reaction time, while Nalley ran an 11.55 ET off an 11.50 dial at 113.18 mph with a reaction time of .043. Third place went to Allen Schaffe, Jr. from Austell, GA in his Dodge Diplomat and fourth place went to Dickey Forrester from Hickory Flatt, GA in a ’68 Camaro

Tim Sutton from Clermont, GA defeated David Fletcher from Lawrenceville, GA on his ’84 Kawasaki for the Pro Bike win. Sutton ran a 9.13 ET on a 9.10 dial in at 137.51 mph with a .007 reaction to David’s 8.93 ET off an 8.89 dial in at 145.00 mph with a .011 reaction time.

Randy Barnett won the second race of the night in the Street ET Bike final. Barnett defeated Andrew Patterson from Taylors, SC on his ’07 GSXR 1000 Suzuki. In the final Barnett ran 9.39 ET on a 9.35 dial at 136.69 mph with a .048 reaction over Patterson’s 9.34 on a 9.06 dial in at 143.12 mph with a .072 react.
