Atkinson Wins At Hartwell After Eight Year Layoff

Veteran racer Ervin Atkinson proved a little time off doesn’t your skills.

After eight years out of racing, it only took Atkinson two weeks to return to victory lane, as he scored the win in Saturday night’s Hobby Stock feature at Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, GA.

Atkinson took the early lead from his front row starting position and quickly pulled away from the rest of the field to capture the victory.
Steve Yarbrough finished in second, with Rod Roberts in third, Mart Patterson in fourth and Ty Anglin in fifth.

In other action, Bubba Russell held off Keith Freeman for the win in the Limited Late Model feature. Brandon Haley ran third, with Chris Woods in fourth and Rex Hall in fifth.

In the SECA Late Model feature, it was Grant Jordan scoring the victory, with Danny Sanders in second, Brandon Haley third, Tyler Harvey fourth and Greg Pilgrim in fifth.

Kole Hardy topped the field for the win in the Modified Street feature. Thomas Segars finished second, with Mark Parham in third, Jennifer Everett in fourth and David Archer in fifth.

Ricky Mauldin picked up the win in the Stock V8 feature. Rocky Jones, Ray Foskey, Terry Brown and Chasidy Russell rounded out the top five.

J.J. Garrett was first to the finish line to score the Stock Four victory. Cy Strickland finished second, with Jeremy Hicks in third, Shane Strickland in fourth and Brandon Patterson in fifth.

Jonathan Starrett won in the Up Front feature, with Justin Sorrow in second and Wayne Chapman in third.
